Sifu Joan Davis
Sifu Joan Davis is the founder and owner of White Dragon Kung Fu Academy. In 1977, while residing in the Florida Keys, Sifu Joan and her future husband Ron Davis joined the Gong Yuen Academy of Key Largo. There they studied kung fu under the direction of then Sifu Glenn C. Wilson, assisted by Sifu James Hickey. Although her path changed in the 80’s, the flowing martial arts display and the philosophy of the Tao remained with Sifu Joan. The fire was kindled by the only martial arts available to Sifu Joan in eastern Washington - tae kwon do, in which she reached 3rd Dan.
By way of the internet, Sifu Joan was able to reunite with her former teacher, now Grandmaster, SiTaiGung Glenn C. Wilson in 2000 and recommenced training in kung fu. Under Grandmasters’ direction, Sifu Joan and her husband Ron proudly opened White Dragon Kung Fu in October 2002 - the first Pai Lum Academy in the northwest.
In August of 2006, Sifu Joan completed and passed the rigorous 3-day long test for black sash, sifu (teacher) level, at the national Pai Lum conference in Florida. Sifu Joan continues to study remotely with her teacher, SiTaiGung (Grandmaster) Glenn C. Wilson, in both kung fu and tai chi styles.
